Georgia man faces several charges after assaulting Mississippi officer

RANKIN CO., Miss. (WLBT) – A Georgia man was charged with assaulting a regulation enforcement officer, felony fleeing, and possession of stolen property.

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Workplace says a deputy noticed a stolen Ford Bronco out of Georgia touring on I-20 and proceeded to drag the automobile over.

A press launch says the deputy obtained out of his automobile and requested the motive force, Timothy Benton, 34, for his identification. Benton then drove off, placing the deputy as he pulled away.

The deputy returned to his automobile and pursued Benton however backed off after the suspect began driving eastbound within the westbound lanes of site visitors on I-20, in response to a press launch.

Members of the Puckett Police Division quickly noticed the automobile on Freeway 13 earlier than persevering with eastbound on Freeway 18 into Smith County.
