Ex-Deputy Warden Pleads Guilty in Mississippi Inmate Beating

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A former deputy warden on the Mississippi State Penitentiary has pleaded responsible in a case involving the beating of an inmate, the U.S. Justice Division stated Thursday.

In a information launch, officers stated Melvin Hilson, 49, pleaded responsible to violating the inmate’s civil rights in 2016.
