Miami Dolphins waive former Auburn cornerback

With two days left within the Miami Dolphins’ offseason program, the NFL staff waived cornerback Javaris Davis on Wednesday.

The Dolphins launched the previous Auburn standout as they signed linebacker Porter Gustin.

Davis had spent the earlier two seasons on Miami’s observe squad and signed a reserve/future contract with the Dolphins on Jan. 11.

In 4 seasons at Auburn, Davis recorded 150 tackles, made 11 tackles for loss, intercepted eight passes and broke up 27. Davis returned an interception 37 yards for a landing in a 49-10 victory over Mississippi State on Sept. 30, 2017.

Davis entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie, signing with the Kansas Metropolis Chiefs on April 30, 2020. When the Chiefs waived him, the Dolphins claimed Davis on July 27, 2020.

In two seasons with Miami, Davis performed in a single recreation. The Dolphins elevated Davis for his or her recreation in opposition to the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 28. Davis performed 10 defensive snaps in Miami’s 33-10 victory, and so they had been a busy 10. The Panthers threw at him 4 instances.
