Man who drowned in Great Miami River identified

FAIRFIELD, Ohio (WXIX) – A man who drowned in the Great Miami River on Sunday has been identified.

The Fairfield Police Department says officers were called around 5:30 p.m. to the Great Miami River behind Waterworks Park for a body that had been found in the river.

On Tuesday, the Butler County Coroner’s Office identified the man as 39-year-old James Tirey.

The coroner determined the cause of the death to be accidental drowning.
