Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham admits he was almost left speechless by Lionel Messi’s moment of brilliance on debut for the club.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner announced himself to the Miami fans in superb style by scoring the winning goal with 91st minute free-kick against Cruz Azul.

The goal also helped the MLS side end their six-game winless run across all competitions and Beckham says he knew something would happen Messi stepped up for the free-kick.

“To be honest, as soon as I saw the free kick given, I thought, ‘This is the way it’s meant to end’,” Beckham told MLS Season Pass.

“Especially when you’ve got players like Leo and Sergio [Busquets] on the pitch – that’s what they produce.

“It’s so exciting tonight for our fans. All of these people, that have come down here to see Leo just step on the pitch – let alone just do what he’s done. Honestly Sergio’s performance was incredible.

“But you know it’s a dream come true for everybody in this stadium to see, and everybody around this country to see Leo step into the MLS and perform. I don’t have many words for that.”
