NJ man sentenced for threats to Black Maryland woman, family
BALTIMORE (AP) — A New Jersey man has obtained three years of probation, 30 days of confinement and intensive in-patient drug remedy for making threatening phone calls to a Black Maryland lady and her household, a federal prosecutor mentioned.
Michael Marotta, 26, of Sewell, New Jersey admitted that he used a textual content message app that hid his id to threaten bodily hurt, U.S. Lawyer Erek Barron mentioned in a information launch.
In response to Marotta’s plea settlement, he used a cell phone utility to ship the threatening message. Within the message, Marotta used racial epithets to explain the Maryland lady and her household, and he threatened to return to their dwelling and do bodily hurt, a information launch mentioned.
As detailed in his plea settlement, Marotta claims he doesn’t know the goal of the threats, and the recipient-victim did not know Marotta.
