Students and faculty honored at Zachary’s December School Board meeting

Honorees have been plentiful on the December Zachary Neighborhood Faculty District Board assembly.

Christmas Card Contest winners from every faculty, in addition to the general district winner, have been honored and introduced with their profitable paintings matted and framed.

The general winner’s paintings is the duvet of the district’s Christmas card, which is mailed statewide to different faculty methods, civic leaders and the governor.

Every faculty had a winner, and their paintings is featured on the again of the cardboard.

  • General district winner: Annaliese Stone, Zachary Excessive Faculty
  • Northwestern Elementary Faculty: Hope Ryskoski
  • Rollins Place Elementary: Madilynn Payne
  • Zachary Elementary: Jolene Jiang
  • Copper Mill Elementary: Kennedy Payne
  • Northwestern Center Faculty: Madison O. Smith
  • Zachary Excessive Faculty: Caleb London

The ZHS FFA spoke to the board concerning the nationwide competitions and awards they’ve been in and shall be part of. The group positioned sixth within the nation in Veterinary Science in Indianapolis in October. Alaishia Joseph, a junior in FFA, has been chosen to attend Nationwide FFA’s Subsequent Gen: Animal Techniques Convention in Denver in March. Members introduced every board member with a poinsettia.

Xavier Haynes, a sixth grader at Copper Mill Elementary was acknowledged for his award-winning paintings. Xavier’s paintings shall be on the 2023 Louisiana Artwork Training Affiliation’s Youth Artwork Month Flag, which shall be on show on the Nationwide Artwork Training Affiliation’s Nationwide conference in San Antonio, Texas, and on the 2023 Artist in Capitol Day in Baton Rouge. He received first place within the fifth to eighth class, and he was the general winner from all of the entries submitted from Okay-12 college students.

Two ZCSD retiring workers have been honored on the assembly: Cindy Coghlan with 25 years and Angelika Fisher with 5 years. Each labored at Northwestern Center Faculty.

4 outgoing Faculty Board members, Beth Kimmel, Hubie Owen, Ann Watkins and Brandie Westmoreland, have been additionally honored for his or her years of service to the Zachary Neighborhood Faculty District.

Kimmell served on the board in its earliest levels from 2001-2007 after which once more from 2014-2022. Owen has been a board member from 2006-2022. Watkins served from 2015-2022, and Westmoreland from 2016-2022.

Faculties Superintendent Scott Devillier thanked all of them for his or her years of service and onerous work, and for all the time placing the scholars first.
