NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – We’re less than 50 days out from kickoff for the Division I football schools in Louisiana.

Tulane opens things up against Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday, Aug. 29th. Caesars Sportsbook set the Green Wave’s win total at 7.5 games for this season. Under Willie Fritz, Tulane registered back-to-back double digit win seasons. Now Jon Sumrall is running the show. Optimism is high with the new coach on campus, but it appears to be prove it mode for the people in Las Vegas.

It’s College Football Playoff or bust for the LSU Tigers. To get there, you’ll probably need a 10-2 record or better. LSU’s over/under win total is 9.5. The problem isn’t the offense in Baton Rouge, it’s the defense. Defensive coordinator Blake Baker was brought in to change those issues.

The Ragin’ Cajuns win total is at eight wins. They’ll start Rummel alum, Chandler Fields, at the quarterback spot. The guys in Lafayette open with Grambling at home.

Not much is expected from either one of the schools in North Louisiana. Louisiana Tech’s over/under win total is five, and the ULM Warhawks have a total of 2.5 games. The schools won a combined five games last year.
