Louisiana Martial Arts Ministries host yearly tournament
PINEVILLE, La. (KALB) – Competitors met at the Country Inn & Suites in Pineville for Louisiana Martial Arts Ministries’ yearly tournament.
The event kicked off at 9 a.m. and, according to event organizers, was a way for competitors to showcase the skills they learned in class. They said it was time for the kids to shine in front of the family and friends.
Competitors were divided by their respective age groups and competed for first, second and third place medals.
Chief Instructor Greg Richey explained why getting kids involved in the ministry is important.
“It doesn’t just teach them how to fight, it doesn’t teach them how to defend themselves,” said Richey. “It teaches them to build character, self-esteem, courage and, most of all, sportsmanship.”
Richey said he encourages parents to sign their kids up for classes if they are interested in having them learn the love of Jesus through martial arts.
Richey said the classes are free and the only cost is $40 per uniform.
