Baton Rouge Police Looking for Family of Man Who Died a Month Ago

The Baton Rouge Police Department is seeking the public’s help in finding the family of a man who died about a month ago.

Robert Louis Focht, Jr. was involved in an incident in which he later succumbed to his injuries.

The cause of death was not immediately clear nor ever made public.

Sadly, authorities were never successful in reaching his next of kin and have not had any luck since. So, they’re looking for assistance in locating family for Mr. Focht.

One person on the BRPD Facebook post has possibly discovered that Focht’s mother passed away a few years ago as an obituary online was found.

In that obituary, it lists Focht as a surviving child of the woman along with four other children.

Someone else posted that one of Focht’s sisters appears to have passed away and the obituary doesn’t list him as a relative, leaving some to think he was estranged from his family.

BRPD is asking anyone with information that could help in locating the family of Mr. Focht to contact Sgt. Dustin Conde with the BRPD Traffic Homicide Unit at 225-389-7819 or dpconde@brla.gov.
