Tawny Port wins Lexington Stakes to secure Kentucky Derby spot

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Within the last Kentucky Derby prep race on the street to Louisville, Tawny Port received the $400,000 Stonestreet Lexington (G3) for 3-year-olds.

Educated by Brad Cox, Tawny Port picked up 20 factors and booked his spot in Kentucky Derby 148. He now has 60 whole factors, good for the No. 11 spot on the leaderboard.

Main Common picked up 8 factors for ending second to spice up his whole to 18 factors, good for twenty seventh place. In Due Time added 4 factors for third to convey his whole to 24 factors, good for twenty second. Ethereal Highway added 2 factors for ending fourth to convey his whole to 22 factors, good for twenty third.

Tawny Port returned $12.20, $6.40 and $3.80. Main Common, ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr., returned $7.60 and $4.80 and completed 1½ lengths forward of favored In Due Time, who paid $2.80 to point out underneath Paco Lopez.
