Perry County to receive $11.6 million for improvements after flooding

PERRY COUNTY, Ky. — Gov. Andy Beshear introduced Tuesday that $11.6 million will go to Perry County for enhancements on infrastructure, water therapy and public security following the floods in July.

The funds will go towards a brand new water therapy plant in Buckhorn, a brand new ambulance station for Hazard and Perry County and street resurfacing for Coal Fields Industrial Park and Perry County Park. 

“The tasks we’re asserting right now are going to enhance the well being and wellbeing of our Japanese Kentucky communities,” Beshear wrote in a press launch. “We’re making good on our promise to be with Japanese Kentucky for the lengthy haul. We’ve got brighter days on our horizon.”

Beshear stated $1,789,000 in CDBG funding will go towards to the Metropolis of Hazard and Perry County for a brand new ambulance station.
