Kentucky makes history in beatdown of Miami that includes the football Cats

It’s felt too long since the Kentucky Wildcats have blown out a great opponent, but that’s what they did Tuesday night against the No. 8 Miami Hurricanes.

Thanks to 21 points from Reed Sheppard and 18 from Antonio Reeves, UK would go on to win 95-73 and improve to 6-1 on the year.

It marked one of Kentucky’s best games ever under John Calipari vs. a top-10 opponent. It was behind only the 2014-15 team’s win over Kansas in terms of margin of victory vs. such a foe.

And this was the Cats’ biggest win ever at Rupp Arena vs. a top-10 foe. The previous high was vs. the Louisville Cardinals (more on them below) in the 1983-84 Final Four season under Joe B. Hall.

The best part was that the basketball and football Cats both defeated an opponent ranked in the top 10 of the AP Poll within one week of each other.

Although Kentucky Basketball isn’t ranked in the top 10, they have shown that they should be higher after a blowout win over the No. 8 Canes and a very close loss to then-No. 1 Kansas.

And that win Saturday at No. 10 Louisville was simply awesome.
