Luck did not strike twice for Wealthy Strike on the 2022 Belmont Stakes on Saturday.
Only a few brief weeks in the past, Wealthy Strike shocked the horseracing world by successful the Kentucky Derby. Was it the beginning of a memorable run or just a fluke?
On Saturday, Wealthy Strike was by no means an element within the operating of the Belmont Stakes.
Richard Dawson’s racehorse completed sixth within the iconic race on Saturday.
“Todd Pletcher finishes 1-2 as Mo Donegal wins over the filly Nest within the #Belmont. Wealthy Strike was by no means an element,” Lane Gold tweeted.
“Wealthy Strike didn’t have the magic (nor the blistering tempo) from the Kentucky Derby & completed sixth,” stated Mark Story.
“The Mike Repole/Todd Pletcher group finishes 1-2 within the Belmont with Mo Donegal and Nest. Wealthy Strike didn’t run a step,” Dan Wolken tweeted.
It seems like Wealthy Strike and the group has some work to do.
Mo Donegal, in the meantime, completed first on Saturday night.
