Grandmother in viral photo from July floods in Kentucky dies

LETCHER COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT/Grey Information) – A virtually 100-year-old lady who made nationwide headlines after a photograph of her caught inside her Kentucky dwelling throughout a flood in late July has died.

Mae Amburgey from Letcher County died over the weekend.

Her son, Jay, notified WYMT and mentioned she died in her sleep on the dwelling of her different son, Phil, in Alabama.

Mae Amburgey’s granddaughter, Missy Amburgey Crovetti, mentioned she initially took the picture of her and posted it on-line out of “desperation.”

Mae Amburgey was at her dwelling together with her son and grandson because the waters rose in late July.

Though the floodwaters destroyed her dwelling, Mae Amburgey and her household, luckily, made it out with minor accidents.

The household mentioned her visitation can be held on Saturday.
