Tech Places Fourth at Penn State National Open

THE FLATS – Liz Galarza and James Cragin led the Georgia Tech cross nation groups to fourth-place finishes on the Penn State Nationwide Open on Friday. The Jackets outperformed ACC opponent and nationally ranked Syracuse.

Galarza was the highest runner for the ladies’s crew, putting fourth with a time of 20:33.0 within the 6K race. Cragin ran a time of 25:11.6 to complete first for the Jackets and seventh total within the males’s 5.2 mile.

The ladies’s group had two runners within the prime 10 and 5 within the prime 50 finishers. The boys’s crew completed with two Jackets within the prime 20 and 6 within the prime 50.

Helena Lindsay rounded out the highest 10 for Tech within the girls’s 6K with an eighth-place time of 20:43.2. Kate Jortberg was the twenty first runner to cross the end line, operating a 6K time of 21:11.4. Mary Brady completed thirty fourth (21:35.9) and Mary Kathryn Knott completed fortieth (21:42.6).

Zach Jaeger was the second Jacket to cross the end line within the males’s 5.2 mile with a Sixteenth-place time of 25:11.6. Devin Wade adopted behind Jaeger, ending in twenty third with a time of 25:59.5. Chris Cherono got here in twenty ninth with a time of 26:05.1 and John Higinbotham completed forty first within the race (26:21.2).

 

UP NEXT

The Jackets will proceed their weekend of competitors on Saturday, Oct. 15 on the Berry Invite.
