According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 22-year-old Tayor Celestine told the staff at a Holmes County hotel that “God” told her to do it.

Troopers say Celestine fired shots at two cars on Interstate 10, grazing one driver in the arm and another in the neck.

She was stopped by troopers on the interstate and taken into custody.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources said they were called to a possible drowning at the lake on Saturday afternoon.

According to officials, 39-year-old Dillard resident Robert Clinkscales had been last seen around 10:30 p.m. on Friday. The next morning, his shoes and phone were discovered at the entrance of the property’s boathouse.

After a short search, Clinkscales’ body was found in 40 to 50 feet of water about 30 feet from the boathouse.

Around midnight, a diver was able to retrieve the man’s body. It has since been sent to the Rabun County Coroner for an autopsy.

Officials have not shared details as to what happened before Clinkscales’ death.

Clinkscales is the second person to drown in Georgia over the Fourth of July holiday. On Friday, 16-year-old Laquvis McCray from Atlanta drowned while on a trip with family and friends to Tybee Island near Back River.

Carson Beck in Elite QB Company

Carson Beck in Elite QB Company

Georgia football quarterback Carson Beck is in elite company heading into the 2024 college football season.

One of the biggest advantages Georgia has heading into the 2024 college football season outside of having Kirby Smart as the program’s head coach is quarterback Carson Beck. He is considered to be one of, if not, the best players at his position and a top candidate to be the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

Beck pieced together an impressive 2023 campaign, which was his first season as Georgia’s starter. He nearly threw for 4,000 yards, completed over 70 percent of his balls and had a 24/6 touchdown touchdown-to-interception ratio. He was as consistent as it gets at quarterback and continued to progress throughout the season. In fact, he was so impressive during the 2023 season, that he placed himself amongst some elite quarterback company due to his performances against conference opponents.

This is a very promising stat for Georgia fans for multiple reasons. First of all, Georgia will have to go through a grinder of a conference schedule this season. Three road games against Texas, Alabama and Ole Miss with home games against Tennessee and Auburn just to name a few. The Bulldogs will need Beck to play up to the standard that is expected of him in order for them to achieve their aspirations, and the stat book says that shouldn’t be a problem for him.

Elite quarterback play has become an essential aspect of national titles and even playoff teams over the years. Georgia has that with Beck under center and if he improves upon what he did just a season ago, then the Bulldogs should be in a pristine position to push for a third national title over the last four seasons.

Sunday won’t be as hot across Southeast Georgia, Northeast Florida

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Tonight, temperatures will drop into the mid-to-upper 70s after a very hot and humid Saturday. The cold front over Georgia continues to stall bringing more moisture to the area tomorrow keeping high temperatures in the low-to-mid 90s, slightly cooler than Saturday. We’re not expecting the National Weather Service to issue a Heat Advisory on Sunday.

Summertime norms return on Monday, with highs staying around 90. Rain chances continue in the afternoon.

We’re watching the tropics, too. Tropical Storm Beryl is expected to strengthen into a Category 1 hurricane late Sunday. Landfall north of Corpus Christi is likely between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. Monday morning.
