Ga. (WTOC) – Georgia third baseman Charlie Condon was taken 3rd overall by the Colorado Rockies in the MLB Draft Sunday evening.

Condon is coming off a season in which he led the NCAA with a .433 batting average and broke the BBCOR era single-season home run record with 37. He was named the SEC Player of the Year and won this season’s Golden Spiked Award.

After joining the program in 2022 as a walk-on, Condon leaves Athens with 62 home runs and 145 RBI over the past two seasons.

Condon becomes the first Bulldog position player drafted in the first round since Emerson Hancock in 2020 (6th overall), and 15th first round selection in program history.
