Former Georgia First Lady Betty Foy Sanders Dies

ATLANTA (AP) — Betty Foy Sanders, an artist and Georgia’s first woman within the mid-Sixties, has died, in response to the governor’s workplace. She was 95.

She was the spouse of Georgia’s 74th governor, Carl Edward Sanders, Sr. who was in workplace from 1963 to 1967.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp issued a press release about her passing.

“Together with her sharp wit, class, and well-known humorousness, she was the epitome of a southern lady. Throughout her years as first woman and through her lengthy and fulfilling life afterwards, she was dedicated to beautifying our state, preserving Georgia’s proud historical past, and serving to college students of the humanities additional their training and skills,” Kemp mentioned.

“A proficient artist in her personal proper, her influences are felt on the Georgia Governor’s Mansion to today, and they are going to be felt for years to return,” the governor mentioned.
