Earthquake confirmed in Newton County, Georgia

BUTTS COUNTY, Ga. (CBS46) – A “loud growth” and shaking had been reported in Butts County, close to Jackson, Georgia, round 9 p.m. this night.

It seems that some degree of shaking was detected by seismographs; a magnitude 2.4 on the Richter scale. A small earthquake has been confirmed by the US Geological Survey (USGS). The epicenter was close to Mansfield, Georgia, in Newton County.

The Butts County Sheriff’s Workplace has not acquired any stories of harm or any accidents. A magnitude 2.4 earthquake may be very small and often doesn’t produce any injury.
