Former Condé Nast CEO Charles Townsend is itemizing a newly renovated home in Vero Seashore, Fla., for $15.9 million. 

Mr. Townsend mentioned he and his spouse, Jill Townsend, paid $2.775 million for the waterfront home in 2020. The couple have spent over $2 million {dollars} renovating the roughly 7,000-square-foot, four-bedroom home, which has a ship dock on the Indian River Lagoon, he mentioned.

Mr. Townsend retired from Condé Nast in 2016, he mentioned, and moved from New York to Vero Seashore, the place his dad and mom had lived for round 25 years.  

Vero Seashore, he mentioned, provides a “very pretty Florida way of life,” with a rural setting and views of the Atlantic Ocean and Indian River. “It’s a really cultural neighborhood, it’s very social.” 

He mentioned he and Ms. Townsend purchased their first residence there in 2014 within the Riomar Bay neighborhood, utilizing it first as a trip residence, then as a main residence when he retired. They renovated the house, he mentioned, and bought it in 2020 earlier than buying this home, which was constructed round 1991.

Ms. Townsend is a decorator and took the reins on the mission, in keeping with her husband. “I’m not the artistic one. I’m the accountant, if you’ll,” he mentioned. Inside, they tore down partitions, repositioned the staircase, moved the kitchen, and constructed a wine cellar beneath the brand new staircase. 

Outdoors, they restored the pool, added patios, and gave the outside of the house a West Indies-like really feel with lower coral stone. They moved into the house about two years in the past, in keeping with Mr. Townsend.

Mr. Townsend was CEO of Condé Nast from 2004 to 2015, and briefly served as chairman of the corporate earlier than retiring in 2016.

The property is being listed with Karen Smith, Cindy O’Dare and Richard Boga of ONE Sotheby’s Worldwide Realty.
