At the moment, the division’s seashore nourishment efforts are permitted on a project-by-project foundation.
This pilot mission consists of about 15 miles of shoreline and stretches throughout a number of private and non-private boundary traces from the Lake Price/Palm Seashore Inlet to the South Lake Price/Boynton Inlet in Palm Seashore County (view map). The division labored with native governments and different teams in a stakeholder-driven course of to develop a cooperative settlement to managing this stretch of shoreline, as an entire.
Collaborative efforts amongst stakeholders to develop this settlement included figuring out seashore nourishment and inlet administration wants, cost-sharing alternatives and allowing necessities for this seashore area moderately than for a single seashore mission.
By taking a regional method to restoration, DEP will enhance the effectiveness of its program and the well being of our seashores by specializing in areas the place restoration can have the best environmental profit and one of the best likelihood of long-term success.
