Two Milford men died in a single-car crash June 17 north of Ellendale.

A Milford man, 30, was driving a Ford Ranger at 10:43 p.m. in the left lane of South Dupont Boulevard south of Fleatown Road at a high-rate of speed when for unknown reasons he lost control of the vehicle, said Sgt. India Sturgis of the Delaware State Police.

The Ford veered off the left side of the road and struck a highway sign in the grassy median, she said, but when the driver brought the Ford back to the right side of the roadway he oversteered, causing the vehicle to re-enter the grassy median and overturn.

Neither the driver or his passenger, a 29-year-old Milford man, were wearing their seatbelts and both were ejected, Sturgis said. The Ford eventually stopped in the left lane of North Dupont Highway.

Identification of both victims is pending notification to their families.

North and South Dupont Boulevard, from Hudson Pond Road to Milton Ellendale Highway, was temporarily shut down for about 2.5 hours to investigate the crash and remove any obstructions from the roadway.

The Delaware State Police Troop 4 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues investigating this incident and ask asking anyone who witnessed this crash to contact Sr. Cpl. J. Smith at (302) 703-3267. Information may also be provided by sending a Private Facebook Message to the Delaware State Police or contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
