Delaware tree planting program open for grant applications

Purposes are open for nonprofits and state companies to obtain funding for tree planting tasks throughout Delaware.

Since beginning in November of 2021, the Tree for Each Delawarean Initiative has helped plant almost 120,000 bushes within the First State.

DNREC’S Beth Krumrine stated the purpose is to plant 1,000,000 bushes within the subsequent 10 years.

And to achieve that purpose, the state needs to fund tree tasks starting from $5,000 as much as $20,000.

“This explicit grant focuses on reforestation and afforestation tasks. In different phrases, bigger scale tree planting in areas that had been previously farmland or beforehand forests,” Krumrine stated.

Purposes for tasks are due by July 1st.

The state has developed a tree monitoring web site the place people can plant their very own bushes and log them at de.gov/tedi.

DNREC is exploring the potential for funding smaller tasks for people sooner or later.
