FRISCO – The Dallas Cowboys have made it pretty clear that they worth Tony Pollard, and, more and more, as one thing extra than simply Ezekiel Elliott’s caddy.

However NFL.com’s Cynthia Frelund doesn’t assume that “worth” has been made clear sufficient, and he or she has tapped Pollard as probably the most “under-appreciated” participant on the group.

Frelund’s reasoning? She writes …

“Pollard’s 6.4 yards per rush exterior the tackles in 2021 ranked second amongst backs with at the very least 50 makes an attempt, per Subsequent Gen Stats. His success as Dallas’ No. 2 again helped earn him PFF’s second-highest grade (90.3) amongst all RBs.

“Given questions alongside the O-line, there’s a robust and logical case to be made for Dallas to function extra performs with each Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott on the sector.”

We’re undecided what “questions alongside the O-line” must do with any of this, however …

Final season, Pollard had 719 dashing yards, 337 receiving yards and two complete touchdowns whereas largely working behind Elliott, the NFL’s two-time dashing champion. Already this offseason, we’ve seen a suggestion of a rise in Pollard’s function. For instance: On the very first OTA snap open to the media final week, each Pollard and Zeke have been on the sector collectively, with the elusive Pollard – who performed some vast receiver in faculty at Memphis – shifting out to the slot.

Frelund taking the place that Pollard is probably the most “under-appreciated participant” on the Cowboys, whereas making a push, as she says, for the “robust and logical case to be made for Dallas to function extra performs with each Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott on the sector” is cheap. And we invite that, particularly when in comparison with the current ESPN take that requires the benching of Elliott.

If the Cowboys did that? Shortly thereafter, NFL.com would seemingly be writing, justifiably, that Ezekiel Elliott is probably the most under-appreciated Cowboy.
