Swifties are invading Dallas-Fort Worth cinemas for the ‘Eras Tour’ movie
Don’t look now, but Swifties, those ever passionate fans of Taylor Swift, have started celebrating at your neighborhood cinema complex.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour has been officially released. By Friday afternoon, theaters in the Dallas-Fort Worth area were filling up with excited Swifties dressed in Eras-inspired attire and covered in friendship bracelets.
Swift kicked off her movie a day early, revealing in an Instagram post that “due to unprecedented demand,” cinemas in the U.S. and Canada would screen it starting Thursday night. The rollout followed Wednesday’s premiere in Los Angeles where Beyoncé made a surprise visit.
Swift has urged fans to celebrate at showings, leading movie houses to roll back their usual policies. Chains such as AMC Theatres, Plano-based Cinemark and Austin-based Alamo Drafthouse Cinema are allowing Swifties to dance and sing throughout the film in what’s likely to look a little like the “Eras Tour” itself.
Taylor Smith-Salmon, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema’s creative director, said full houses are likely at the theaters in the Cedars and Richardson, “so I would expect good energy.”
