Dallas-based shared office firm Common Desk is scheduling a summer opening for its next location – this time in Las Colinas.
The flexible office operator is taking 35,700 square feet on two floors of the Canal Centre building on Las Colinas Boulevard near State Highway 114. The new location is located in the Las Colinas Urban Center.
“The Las Colinas Urban Center continues to add to its mixed-use development with additional restaurants, bars and multi-family residences,” Common Desk founder Nick Clark said in a statement. “We believe it’s the perfect time and the right building for us in Las Colinas.”
The 10-story, 237,894-square-foot Canal Centre building since 2017 has been owned by a real estate investment partnership that’s represented by Sunwest Real Estate Group.
“Ownership feels like the time is right for coworking in Las Colinas and Common Desk will be a great partner for the project,” Sunwest managing principal Marc Grossfeld said.
Tenants in the Canal Centre building will have access to the Common Desk tenant lounge and Fiction Coffee shop.
Las Colinas’ Urban Center – which is located on the east side of S.H. 114 at O’Connor Boulevard – is growing with new corporate offices by Christus Health and Wells Fargo that will house more than 5,000 workers.
The overall Las Colinas area is now home to more workers than downtown Dallas.
Common Desk got its start in 2012 with a single location in Dallas’ Deep Ellum district. The shared office firm now has a dozen locations in North Texas plus offices in Austin, Houston and North Carolina. Since last year, the Dallas company has been a part of nationwide coworking firm WeWork Inc.
Common Desk is also planning a new coworking center in The Hill mixed-use development at the northeast corner of U.S. Highway 75 and Walnut Hill Lane.
Dallas-Fort Worth is one of the country’s fastest growing coworking markets, with more than 121 office centers.
