Micah Parsons has apparently told Jerry Jones the type of players he wants around him
At some point this offseason the Dallas Cowboys just might hand out the biggest defensive contract in NFL history. This is true because for the first time in his career, Micah Parsons is eligible for a contract extension.
It has long been assumed that Parsons will set NFL records with his eventual deal. He has been an incredible player for the Cowboys since they drafted him in 2021 (after initially trading down in the first round with the Philadelphia Eagles, adding to the legend). While this is the case, Parsons’ teammates, CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott, are also in the new contract game with the Cowboys, Parsons also has other wishes in terms of player acquisition.
The weekend was a busy one for Parsons as he was named MVP of the NBA’s All-Star Celebrity game and appeared on The Stephen A. Smith Show. During his appearance, he was asked if he ever informs Jerry Jones as to the type of players he wants around him. Jump to about the 5:10 mark to see the quoted portion.
Stephen A.: You brought up how you want to be a part of the culture in terms of picking the kind of players that y’all need. Is that something that you’ve mentioned to Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones? Like, yo, let me see. Let me play a role. Who are we bringing on this squad? Mentally. Do you approach them about stuff like that?
Micah Parsons: Yea so that’s what I like about J. I think J’s one of the best, GMs, like owners that I’ve been around. And not even just that I’ve been around because I’ve only been on one team. But from what I’ve heard from other NBA and NFL players. And it’s just like the Super Bowl… Jerry see’s me walking out the Wynn. Jerry was at the Wynn. He says, ‘Hey, you going to the Super Bowl?’ I said ‘Yea, I’m going.’ He said, ‘Come see us.’ And I was like, ‘Hey you got any extra tickets? I’ve got some homeboys that want to come.’ Jerry sends me four extra tickets to the Super Bowl suite. And we just sit and talk from before the game until the whole half about players I want to be in, players I want to be around. Who do I need? Who do I want to be with? Future of our team. And that’s just dope to have that type of feedback with an owner that loves to hear your ideas and what you think and where the team can be. Jerry’s been pretty amazing like that with my family and stuff like that. I have had them conversations with him and we spoke for two, three hours this Super Bowl alone.
It is fairly normal to ask the most important players in your franchise for their opinion, especially if you plan on giving them a record-setting contract themselves. Parsons has checked all of the boxes in terms of on-field production over the course of his first three seasons in the NFL and his opinion is certainly valuable.
Parsons has never been shy about letting his opinion on anything be known on social media or his podcast, so it stands to reason he would feel confident giving it to someone who he feels can make a difference in the most important job that he has.

FIFA Fan Fest is coming and parking prices may surprise you
FIFA World Cup 2026 is about a month away and the FIFA Fan Festival at Fair Park is expected to be one of the biggest draws for soccer fans coming to Dallas from around the globe.
The event features live match broadcasts, concerts and other events from June 11 to July 19. With crowds expected throughout the monthlong celebration, parking on private property around Fair Park could reach prices unlike what many visitors have seen before.
Nathan Jones, a South Dallas homeowner licensed by the city, offers 10 parking spots in his backyard.
He said the price depends on the special event happening at Fair Park. For the State Fair of Texas, Jones said he can charge about $30. For Texas-OU weekend, he can charge up to $100. Jones said he expects to charge up to $250 per spot during FIFA Fan Fest.
“Since it’s a month-long, that’s a month worth of parking versus us having to wait until the weekend to make our money,” Jones said. “We can make money throughout the week, so hopefully we can capitalize.”
The city of Dallas is allowing private property owners in the Fair Park designated parking area to apply for a $100 license and charge motorists up to 150% of that fee. That means the maximum parking price would top out at $250 per vehicle.
Zach Thompson, who owns Southside Parking, said the setup can benefit both the city and South Dallas property owners.
“We provide a safer parking opportunity than what you find a lot of times inside Fair Park,” Thompson said. “We stay with the vehicles, we monitor them, we make sure that there is no issue.”
Thompson said visitors should make sure they are parking in a permitted lot.
“Let me be real clear … they gotta be careful, if you try to park on the street or take you on the back streets,” Thompson said. “They’re not permitted. Only the permitted parking lots are in the Fair Park grounds.”
FIFA parking license holders must apply by June 3 and pay the $100 license fee.

Police say a crash led to an attempted carjacking and a fatal shooting in Garland
A man was shot and killed while attempting to carjack another driver outside a Garland convenience store on Sunday afternoon.
Garland Police said officers were called to a crash near Highway 66 and Dairy Road at about 3:30 p.m.
When they arrived, they learned the driver of a green car had collided with two other vehicles on the road and then all of the drivers involved stopped at a gas station on the corner. That’s where police said the driver of the green car attempted to take several other vehicles in the gas station parking lot by force.
The man was seen checking car handles and managed to get inside one car, but was unable to drive away.
“Those attempts were unsuccessful,” police said.
The man then crossed Dairy Road and went to a convenience store parking lot. As a man in a Chevrolet Impala pulled into the parking lot, police said the driver involved in the crash confronted him as soon as he stopped and started to get out of the vehicle.
Police said the man’s family was in the Impala, including two adult women and five children.
There was a struggle between the two men and police said the driver of the Impala pulled out a gun and shot the other man at least once.
The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died. His identity will be released once his family has been notified of his death.
No other injuries were reported.
Police said the driver of the Impala remained at the scene and has been cooperative with investigators. No charges have been filed.
The investigation remains ongoing.

FC Dallas ended its winless streak and one new scorer made it sweeter
Petar Musa scored his 10th goal of the season, Samuel Sarver scored his first career goal in MLS, and FC Dallas beat the New York Red Bulls 2-0 on Saturday night to snap a four-game winless streak.
Dallas (4-3-4) had lost back-to-back games.
Musa gave Dallas a 1-0 lead in the 54th minute. Ran Binyamin, on the counter-attack, played an entry pass from near the top of the penalty arc to a charging Musa for a sliding first-touch finish from the right corner of the 6-yard box. The 28-year-old Musa went into the game tied with Nashville’s Sam Surridge for most goals in MLS this season.
The Red Bulls (3-5-3) are winless in five straight.
Sarver, the 2025 MLS Next Pro MVP, headed a cross from Logan Farrington into a wide-open net to make it 2-0 in the 88th minute.
Ethan Horvath had four saves for New York.
The Red Bulls had 61% possession, but were outshot 12-7, 6-0 on target.
