Man dies in Pleasant Grove crash while leading officers on chase, Dallas police say

A man died in a crash Thursday in Pleasant Grove while trying to flee officers in a vehicle authorities believe was stolen, Dallas police said.

Shortly before 11 a.m., officers found a vehicle reported as stolen in the 1200 block of South Buckner Boulevard, according to a Thursday news release.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle in the parking lot of a nearby business and were approaching it on foot when the motorist backed up and rammed a patrol vehicle before driving away, police said.

Officers then pursued the suspect vehicle, which drove south on Buckner Boulevard.

The motorist crashed into a Dallas City Marshal’s vehicle that was not involved in the chase and also hit the vehicle of a bystander in the 10900 block of Elam Road, police said.

The man, whose name police have not released, was ejected from the stolen vehicle and pronounced dead at the location.

There were no other injuries reported in connection with the incident, police said.
