FC Dallas will play its first preseason match against Lionel Messi and Inter Miami CF at the Cotton Bowl on Monday afternoon.

It will be the the Argentine superstar’s second visit to North Texas. Messi scored twice in Miami’s penalty shootout win over FCD last August.

Rain has fallen throughout the morning leading up to the match in Dallas, but the weather should subside in time for kickoff.

For FC Dallas, the trip to the Cotton Bowl marks a return to where the club played its first MLS season as the Dallas Burn in 1996.

Dallas played at the Cotton Bowl from 1996 through the 2002 MLS season, again in 2004 and for part of the 2005 season before moving to Toyota Stadium in Frisco.
