Gunman fatally shoots man, critically wounds self at Dallas gun range, police say

A gunman walked into a Stemmons Corridor gun range Friday and fatally shot another man before turning the weapon on himself, Dallas police say.

Officers responded to a shooting call in the 1600 block of West Mockingbird Lane, near Harry Hines Boulevard, about 5:20 p.m. Police confirmed to KXAS-TV (NBC5) that the shooting occurred at the DFW Gun Range and Academy.

According to police, a man walked into the range and shot another man, then shot himself. The victim was pronounced dead, and the gunman was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Neither man’s name has been released

In 2020, the gun range was the site of the theft of dozens of guns. Authorities said three teenagers “exploited the chaos” of protests in Dallas following George Floyd’s murder to commit the burglary.
