Excessive heat warning in effect for Dallas despite slightly lower temperatures Wednesday

Temperatures are expected to marginally decrease over the next few days but Wednesday’s heat is still dangerous, according to meteorologists.

Although the triple-digit temperatures are forecast to last until Saturday, the National Weather Services’ excessive heat warning for North Texas expires at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The warning is in place for areas that will reach temperatures of 105 or greater and heat indices of 110 or more, according to the weather service.

The forecast for the DFW International Airport shows a highs of 105 for the temperature and 110 for the heat index.

Tuesday’s temperatures reached a record high for 2023, topping out at 108. The heat index — how the air feels based on real temperature and humidity — peaked at 111 at the airport.

In the days ahead, Thursday and Friday are forecast to have temperatures at least breaking 100 with the heat index to hit 108 and 107 respectively, according to KXAS-TV (NBC5). Saturday brings a chance of storms, which could cool the Dallas-Fort Worth area down into the 90s through at least Monday.

Low temperatures are expected to be in the low 80s Wednesday through Friday and high 70s through Monday.
