Dallas police ask for help locating suspect in east Oak Cliff homicide

Dallas police are asking the public’s help to find a 30-year-old man they believe fatally shot a woman and wounded a man outside of a home in east Oak Cliff last week.

On Oct. 1, officers responded to a shooting about 11 p.m. in the 2700 block of Britton Avenue, near South Lancaster Road, police said. An investigation determined a suspect, whom police identified as Omar Hernandez, 30, shot at a man and woman outside of a home just a few blocks away in the 3400 block of Britton Avenue, striking the man.

After the first shooting, police said the two victims drove off before colliding with a parked car in the 2700 block of Britton Avenue. Police said Hernandez then shot the woman, Martha Enriquez, 29, while she was in the car, then left the scene.

Enriquez died at the scene, and the man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, police said. Police shared surveillance footage that showed a white SUV driving near the wrecked car.

According to police, Hernandez is seen getting out of the passenger side of the SUV and walking around the victim’s vehicle before firing into the car several times, hitting Enriquez who was still inside.

The footage shows Hernandez running back to the passenger side of the SUV before leaving the scene.

Police say Hernandez is facing charges of murder and aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.
