Dallas Mavericks two-way guard McKinley Wright IV is decamping from the NBA to play in Europe. Wright signed a contract to join KK Buducnost VOLI, based in Podgorica, Montenegro, the club announced.

While Wright hasn’t publicly acknowledged the move yet, he may have alluded to his change in scenery a day before Buducnost officially announced his signing. He surreptitiously tweeted, “Built for it. Let’s rock.”

Wright spent the 2022-23 season as a two-way player with the Dallas Mavericks, playing in the NBA and G League. He started the season with the Texas Legends, Dallas’ G League affiliate, appearing in six games before moving to the Mavericks.

He played in 27 games for Dallas last season, posting averages of 4.2 points on 46.9% shooting, 1.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 12.4 minutes. Wright started one game and scored 10 points with three rebounds and four assists.

More recently, Wright played for the Mavericks during Summer League in Las Vegas. He averaged 8.5 points on 53.8% shooting, one rebound and two assists in 17.2 minutes. Unfortunately, he sustained a left ankle sprain in the second game that sidelined him for the remainder of the tournament.

Wright has career averages of 3.7 points on 47.5% shooting, 1.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 32 NBA games with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Mavericks.
