Blackhawks Rally to Earn a Point

The Chicago Blackhawks lost to the Stars in overtime on Friday, 5-4. That was the opening contest of a five-game road trip. The Blackhawks have been abysmal on the road, dropping their last 10 games away from Chicago and they are 4-13-1 overall. Chicago is in last place.

The Blackhawks trailed by two goals with 11 minutes left, but scored two goals in eight minutes to force overtime before falling to Dallas, 5-4. Tyler Johnson scored two goals in the loss, putting in the first and last goals for the Blackhawks. Connor Bedard was held off the scoresheet, but has six points over his previous four games.

Petr Mrazek had a tough game, giving up five goals while saving 30. He is 9-11-1 with a 3.07 GAA and a .908 save percentage but has been light years ahead of Arvid Soderblom (2-11-1, 4.15, .870). Hintz Hat Trick Highlights OT Win

The Dallas Stars defeated the Blackhawks in OT to begin their five-game homestand. Dallas has been very good at home this season (11-5-1), including winning five straight in Dallas. The Stars are in second in the Central Division.

Roope Hintz scored a hat trick, including delivering the game-winner with eight seconds left in the extra session. Hintz has four goals over his last five games. Jason Robertson had two assists in the victory and now has seven points over his last five games. The Stars are eighth in goals per game (3.47) and are 13th on the power-play (22.0%).

Scott Wedgewood earned the win, stopping 25 shots. Wedgewood has been sharp, going 10-2-2 with a 3.06 GAA and a .902 save percentage, outstanding numbers with Jake Oettinger out. Best Bets for this Game

The Stars are going to win this game, so you might as well look to make the most money you can out of it. If you went with the straight-up bet you are going to have to put up over $340 to win $100 so you might as well be willing to give up the 1.5 goals. The victory looks pretty good for you anyway.

Consider that Chicago has lost 10 straight on the road and is losing badly. The overtime loss was the first road loss in the last eight where they did not lose by at least two. Because that was against Dallas one may think this game will be close, but take that more as an anomaly than what will likely happen.

Prediction: Take the Dallas Stars at -1.5 (-146)

These teams combined for nine goals in the last game, but that is not the exception. Five of the last seven meetings have seen at least seven goals scored and with Oettinger potentially out, you might want to consider the over as the smart pick. Wedgewood has played well but he is not dominant.

The Blackhawks have seen at least seven goals scored in three of the last four games while Dallas has seen seven or more goals scored in eight of their last 10.

Prediction: Go over 6.5 (-106)
