Restaurateur Jon Alexis, owner of Dallas staple TJ’s Seafood, has been expanding his restaurant empire lately. After opening Escondido Tex-Mex in 2022 and Ramble Room in 2023, his Imperial Fizz Hospitality group is set to open a new concept later this year: Birdie’s Eastside.
The restaurant, set to open in winter 2023, will replace a former Luby’s in East Dallas, and will have a 7,000-square-foot patio with a turfed play area for kids. Shade is a priority for the outdoor space, according to a press release, and it will have mature trees and shade structures.
Birdie’s is a highly anticipated opening, named by The Dallas Morning News as one of the most exciting restaurant openings of 2023.
The menu has not been released, but it will be focused on casual bar and grill food with a focus on healthy options. The drinks program will include beer, wine, cocktails, and “rare whiskeys” in an adults-only lounge.
The design of the restaurant, by Hatsumi Kuzuu of Kuzuu Design, is described as “cozy Marfa vibes” with a “cosmic country” aesthetic.
“Birdie’s is just like East Dallas. Casually Texan, a little boho, super comfy and easygoing,” Alexis said in a press release. “East Dallas is casual, fun and outdoorsy — doesn’t it deserve a really groovy indoor/outdoor spot?”
Birdie’s Eastside will be located at 6221 E. Mockingbird Lane. birdieseastside.com.
