A Dallas woman is behind bars and accused of killing a store clerk and then stealing a bottle of water, according to reports.
Aleigha Horn, 29, has been charged with capital murder in connection to the death of 52-year-old Inayath Syed, according to Fox 4.
Police said that on July 8, Syed was working at the A&A Mart near the Dallas Zoo when Horn came into the store.
Video surveillance showed Horn placing a bottle of water on the counter, according to the report.
The clerk and suspect started to argue, which is when Horn pulled out a handgun and shot Syed in the neck.
She then left the store with the bottle of water.
Syed coworkers and responding police chased after Horn, the report noted. She was found in the woods a few blocks from the scene. Authorities also found a handgun nearby.

The worker was taken to the hospital and died on Monday. Horn was initially charged with aggravated robbery of a business, but they were upgraded after Syed’s death.
Horn was also wanted for another shooting, three days earlier, according to the report. In that case, she knocked on a door and reportedly put a gun to a person’s face. When she pulled the trigger, it did not fire.
When Horn tried again, the man was shot near his elbow.
A customer at the store told Fox 4 that Syed was a good person.
“He’s a very good guy, all about his job, very serious about his job. No complaints about him, looked out for everyone if you needed help,” Heather Valdez told the outlet.

Warriors Owner Joe Lacob Discusses Klay Thompson Signing With Dallas Mavericks
![Warriors Owner Joe Lacob Discusses Klay Thompson Signing With Dallas Mavericks](https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/c_crop,w_3469,h_1951,x_0,y_163/c_fill,w_1440,ar_16:9,f_auto,q_auto,g_auto/images/ImagnImages/mmsport/dallas_basketball/01j3174c1evdc7df5g6q.jpg)
The Dallas Mavericks were able to convince Klay Thompson to leave the Golden State Warriors after 13 years with the franchise. He won four championships with the organization and most thought he would spend his entire career there as Stephen Curry is likely to do. Thompson felt a little disrespected in negotiations and was coveted in free agency by other teams, leading to his departure.
Warriors owner Joe Lacob recently appeared on The Athletic‘s “NBA Show” Podcast to discuss Thompson’s departure.
“I sent him that little video of me bowing to him,” Lacob said. “It was just my way of saying, you know, he meant so much to us, and he was so much to this organization, and everything we’ve accomplished as a group. And I still feel that way about him. And I always will, it will never change. I don’t care what, you know, happened or didn’t happen. He will always be welcome in my life. I hope he feels the same. Honestly, I get a little teary-eyed about it… He’s just going to be in Dallas for a few years and we’ll have to kick his ass. But, that’s just the job. And I’m sure he feels the same way,”

The Warriors have already announced they’ll retire Thompson’s No. 11 when his playing days are over for all of his contributions to the team, making five All-Star games on top of the championships. He paired with Curry to form one of the greatest backcourt duos of all time and it’ll be weird for most fans to see him in a different uniform.
Whenever Thompson and the Mavericks first play at Golden State, he should still receive a warm reception from their fanbase. While he may have felt disrespected in negotiations with the front office, he’s still one of the greatest players in the team’s history.

Are The Dallas Cowboys The Ideal Landing Spot for Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty?
![Are The Dallas Cowboys The Ideal Landing Spot for Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty?](https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/c_crop,w_2083,h_1171,x_0,y_44/c_fill,w_1440,ar_16:9,f_auto,q_auto,g_auto/images/ImagnImages/mmsport/g5_football_daily/01j29sy04f4n7c6rymj4.jpg)
Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty was a nearly-universally praised player last season, leading the NCAA in yards from scrimmage per game with over 150. Jeanty is already being discussed as one the best running back prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft Class.
Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus recently published a list of offensive prospects who would be ideal first picks for all 32 NFL teams in the 2025 NFL Draft. Therein, Sikkema indicated that Jeanty would be an ideal fit for the NFC East’s Dallas Cowboys.
Senior Bowl’s Jim Nagy Heaps Praise on Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty Ahead of 2024 Season
“Simply put: Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty was the best running back in college football last year. With a wide receiver background, he is a true threat as both a runner and receiver. He recorded more than 1,900 all-purpose yards with 0.55 PFF wins above average, the sixth-highest single-season WAA score for a college running back in the PFF era. The Cowboys have the lowest-ceiling running back room in the NFL heading into 2024, and Jeanty would be an obvious fix.”

Mountain West Conference Announces Additional Media Partner For 2024 Football Season
Jeanty was the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year in 2023, in addition to earning first-team All-America honors from ESPN, USA Today, and College Football Network. Boise State’s 2024 season is set to begin on August 31 at Georgia Southern.
The 2025 NFL Draft is scheduled for April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
