A man is dead and a woman is wounded after a shooting Saturday evening that shut down all southbound lanes of Interstate 35E in the Stemmons Corridor, Dallas authorities said.

Dallas police responded about 8:30 p.m. to a shooting call in the 2600 block of southbound North Stemmons Freeway, near Medical District Drive. When officers arrived, they found a man and a woman shot.

Both victims were taken to a hospital, and the man — whose identity was not released — died from his injuries, according to police. The condition of the woman was unknown late Saturday.

The shooting shut down all southbound lanes of I-35E as police continued to investigate. Texas Department of Transportation cameras showed vehicles being directed off the interstate at Inwood Road about 10 p.m., and traffic was backed up to State Highway 183.
