Sergio Garcia showed support for Texas volleyball during championship season

Professional golfer Sergio Garcia was in Tampa on Sunday to watch Texas volleyball claim its second-straight NCAA volleyball championship. The Longhorns won the match in straight sets over Nebraska following losses against the Cornhuskers in the 2015 and 1995 national title games.

Garcia, the winner of the 2017 Masters, moved to Austin a few months after the victory when he married Angela Akins. An Austin native, Akins has plenty of Longhorn pride that Garcia has clearly embraced, including flashing the “Hook’em” gesture during a 2018 PGA event and showing his support for Texas before the final four CFP teams were named on the “Fairway to Heaven” podcast.

Akins played golf while she was a student at UT, and her father (Marty Akins) and cousin (Drew Brees) both played quarterback in college, Akins at Texas and Brees at Purdue.

Back in October, Garcia had some inspirational words he shared with the team, too. Watch it here:
