Class of 2026 Lilly Scholars Announced
Wabash Faculty introduces the most recent class of Lilly Students, three incoming freshmen who’ve earned the Faculty’s most prestigious scholarship.
Patrick Countryman of Indianapolis; Augustin “Gus” Sanchez of Carmel, Indiana; and James Wallace of Missouri Metropolis, Texas, make up the Class of 2026 winners.
Finalists visited campus in February to compete for the Lilly Scholarship, which covers tuition, room, and board for all 4 years of a scholar’s Wabash schooling. The scholarship program was established in 1974 to honor Eli Lilly and his household, and the award is designed to acknowledge excellent younger males who present excessive potential and future promise. Honorees are younger males who’ve the need to influence the Wabash neighborhood and the world at massive.
Countryman attends Bishop Chatard Excessive College in Indianapolis. He plans to pursue medical faculty throughout his time at Wabash, in addition to competing on the Little Large soccer crew. He serves as scholar physique vp, chairperson of the Dance Marathon Morale Committee, and volunteers extensively at Gleaners Meals Pantries, Boulevard Place, and St. Vincent de Paul. Countryman spent the early years of his life in Shenzhen, China, the place he shortly developed friendships with different children from across the world, which proved instrumental in growing his cultural understanding, work ethic, and dedication.
Sanchez attends Carmel Excessive College in Carmel, Indiana. His future tutorial pursuits embrace math and physics. He serves on the TechHounds robotics crew as chief of programming/electrical along with being a member of the Science Olympiad and Educational Tremendous Bowl groups. He has received gold medals competing at Indiana State College Music Affiliation competitions in solo music for marimba and snare drum. Exterior of college, he’s a lifeguard on the Monon Neighborhood Middle and teaches youngsters 
Wallace attends Ridge Level Excessive College in Missouri Metropolis, Texas. He intends to main in monetary economics at Wabash. He’s concerned within the RPHS marching and live performance bands, serving because the brass captain. He performs the trumpet and has certified as one of many top-50 trumpet gamers in Texas for each jazz and classical music.
