Cedar Park Star Student Helps Mentor Younger Students: Meet Gabriel

Cedar Park, TX — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we’ve launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Gabriel has been working with PALS (peer assistance leadership) CPHS PALs has a class period where students spend their time either playing games and going to the elementary or middle schools. Gabe dedicates this time to help mentor younger students (in elementary and middle school) who may be struggling. I think this is an honorable and kind use of his time.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Gabriel is wise and mature beyond his years. He makes an effort to connect with younger students through PALS by mentoring or simply letting that child take a break from classroom stress, talk about their day/family or simply play a game. I feel like this contributes to students success further in their school career to know older students care about them and are willing to spend time with them.
