Austin police investigating SWAT incident at north Austin apartment complex
AUSTIN, Texas – Austin police are investigating after their SWAT team was called in to respond to an incident at a north Austin apartment complex.
At approximately 1:24 p.m., officers responded to a “shots fired” call at the Cypress Point Apartments at 212 W Lola Drive.
The caller reportedly heard multiple gunshots from inside the apartment next door.
Upon arrival, officers observed several bullet holes coming from the apartment in question.
CRIME COVERAGE
The incident developed into a check welfare call, at which time officers forced entry into the apartment.
Officers found multiple spent shell casings in the apartment.
Officers contacted the SWAT team to respond.
SWAT team and bomb team members responded and eventually cleared the apartment, finding nobody inside.
Though multiple gunshots were fired in the apartment, there are no reported injuries, and there is no suspect in custody.
Detectives are on the scene attempting to obtain a search warrant for the apartment.
Police are actively investigating the incident, and are asking local residents to contact 911 if they see anything suspicious.
