With no rain around, Augusta street floods – and source is a mystery
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Residents of Randall Road in Augusta found their street mysteriously underwater for the past couple of days.
A city employee on the scene told News 12 on Tuesday it was due to a corroded drainage pipe that often became clogged with debris.
It didn’t rain yesterday, so where did the water come from?
A city worker said it came from a treatment plant, but then he said it was stormwater, not sewer water.
A nearby pond above Randall and Tuggle looked empty, so it didn’t appear to come from there.
Wherever the water comes from, residents say it’s a common thing to happen on their street.
By late morning Tuesday, the water seemed to be receding.
