AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – On Saturday, kids from across the CSRA were able to talk and learn about different topics from space to medicine.

TEDx came to Augusta Tech’s campus to let kids speak about a topic of their choosing.

Organizers say events like this encourage kids to speak up more.

“First and foremost, there aren’t many events like this,” said Matias Riveros-Amado. “Oftentimes, we shut down kids, tell them that they’re too young, they don’t know what they’re talking about.”

But the event shows they have a lot of great ideas to share, he said.

“So. I think that is really important to give them this first step in self-advocation and representing themselves,” he said.

TEDx plans to do the event again next year.
