Hooters abruptly closes several locations, but not in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Just a few months after filing for bankruptcy protection, Hooters has abruptly closed dozens of locations.
However, the one in Augusta on Washington Road remains open, employees said.
The chain’s Atlanta-based parent company, HOA Restaurant Group, closed at least four Georgia locations:
- 209 Peachtree Road NE in Atlanta
- 3550 Gwinnett Place Drive Northwest in Duluth
- 6855 Douglas Blvd. in Douglasville
- 1854 Club House Drive in Valdosta
In South Carolina, locations closed in Columbia and Rock Hill.
In a statement, a company spokesperson says it closed certain company-owned locations to position the restaurant chain for the future.
A specific list of locations was not released, but local reports indicate about 30 locations were shuttered in seven states, including Florida, Texas, Michigan, and the Carolinas.
The 42-year-old chain is best known for its all-female wait staff in the iconic white tank tops and orange shorts.

Hooters was obtained by a private equity firm in 2019. It filed for bankruptcy in March 2025.
