Former Augusta commissioner suffers heart attack, on life support
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Former Augusta commissioner John Clarke has suffered a heart attack, according to Commissioner Catherine Smith-Rice.
Smith-Rice says Clarke is on life support at Doctors Hospital.
“My dearest and former colleague and friend,” said Smith-Rice.
Commissioners say Clarke was treated for an illness over the holidays, but appeared to recover.
He attended last week’s public hearing of the Augusta Historic Preservation Commission, Smith-Rice says.
