Augusta University cuts ribbon on new sports performance center

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Augusta University held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new sports complex, the Alvin and Yvette Harris Sports Performance Center.

The facility is located at Christenberry Fieldhouse and will provide student-athletes access to a new training space designed to improve their athletic performance.

A student athlete said the facility has been helpful for team building and training.

“Just to be able to have the ability to spend with teammates and actually uplift them and have space to do that,” said Chapman Barnett, junior, men’s golf team. “There are certain exercises that we weren’t able to do in there. Having all the new equipment and new stuff has just been unbelievable.”

Augusta trunk-or-treat brings early Halloween fun to community

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Kids in the Augusta community participated in an early trick-or-treating experience Tuesday evening at the Robert Howard Community Center.

The trunk-or-treat event featured festive decorations and goodies for trick-or-treaters.

Local business owners helped create the experience for those in the community.

“When we do things like this, we give the kids in our community something to look forward to every year, people to look forward to, things that they can tell their parents about. Parents can come out, meet us, talk to us,” said Ashley Young, the owner of Foremost Home Care. “Getting outside your door and seeing each other face to face instead of social media and stuff,” she continued.
