Georgia Southern leads Valspar Augusta Invitational after two rounds

The 2025 Valspar Augusta Invitational NCAA women’s golf tournament began play on Saturday with 13 teams competing at historic Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta.
Windy conditions made it a challenging day for scoring with no teams breaking par. After two rounds, Georgia Southern leads at 6 over par, followed by Central Florida (+9) and Michigan State (+11). As the teams head into Sunday’s final round, Augusta University sits in 12th place (+47).
Texas Tech’s Kiera Hurtova tops the individual leaderboard at 5 under par, with Georgia Southern’s Mary Miller (-2) in second place. Six players are tied for third place (-1), including Molly Smith (UCF), Mia Sassa (Yale), Pimposa Sisutham (UCF), LoraLie Cowart (Georgia Southern), Louise Reau (Georgia Southern), and Katie Lu (Michigan State).
Due to the weather Sunday morning, the final round was cancelled and the scores from the second round are the final scores.

Two Rounds Complete at the Valspar Augusta Invitational – Augusta University

AUGUSTA, GA – After two rounds of the Valspar Augusta Invitational, the Jaguars are in 12th place. On a windy day with no team able to break par, it’s Georgia Southern hold the lead at +6. They are followed by UCF is +9 and Michigan State is +11.
On the individual front, Texas Tech’s Klara Hurova was one of four players to break par and has a three-shot lead at -5.

Zoe Pinillos put two solid rounds together and is at +3, and sits in a tie for 12th place. Pinillos had rounds of 74 and 73 as her second round featured an eagle on No. 11 and two other birdies.
Not far behind her is Marine Legentil who at +8, in a tie for 27th. After an opening round 75, Legentil shot a 73 in the second round. On the day she rolled in five birdies.
Sara Adams went 80-82 and Jessica Pilgrim had rounds of 83 and 79 for the other Augusta counting scores. Gwendolyn Yarnall rounded out the Jaguars with an 83 and 89.
With expected bad weather overnight and into the morning, the earliest tee times on Sunday will be at 9:30 a.m.

Bethel AME Men’s Day Committee honors Augusta leaders

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Ten men were honored by Bethel AME Church at the Bell Auditorium on Friday evening.
This year’s honorees were selected for being leaders in Augusta, including state Rep. Karlton Howard, Westside High School boys basketball head coach coach Jerry Hunter, Augusta Commission member Alvin Mason and others.
More than 300 guests were there.
We heard from a committee member about what led to the honorees this year.
“We decided to honor 10 distinct men here in Augusta, Ga. that have impacted our community through the years,” said Lynwood Holmes. “So we decided our theme for this year is Men’s Day is ‘Men Leading and Standing on Faith.’ So we decided to bring in 10 men to have led in some capacity in our community.”
