Augusta Tops PBC Commissioner’s Cup Standings Following Fall Championships
AUGUSTA, GA — Augusta University leads the Peach Belt Conference Commissioner’s Cup standings following the fall season. The Jaguars won two of the three championships they participate in and have a .917 overall rating. North Georgia is second at .880 with Flagler in third at .782.
Augusta won the men’s cross country championship in October and followed that with the volleyball regular-season title in November. The women’s cross country team finished in third place at the PBC meet. North Georgia won the women’s soccer regular-season title and were second at women’s cross country while Flagler won the women’s cross country title and were second in men’s cross country and third in women’s soccer.
The PBC Commissioner’s Cup is presented annually to the best overall athletic department based on regular-season final standings (with exceptions for golf, track and cross country which are based on PBC Tournament results). The award is presented in late May during the PBC annual meetings.
Teams are ranked according to how many points they earn divided by how many are available to them, depending on which sports they sponsor. The number of available points in each sport is based on the number of teams participating in that sport. Associate members are not counted in the calculations.
