Augusta flights canceled after plane crash near D.C.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Flights connecting to Augusta Regional Airport have been canceled after an American Airlines jet collided with an Army helicopter while landing at Ronald Reagan National Airport.

This is the arrivals and departures data sheet on Augusta Regional Airport’s web page:

  • Arriving flight 5-4-5-5 from the D.C. Airport to Augusta Regional canceled
  • Departing flight 5-0-4-2 from Augusta Regional to D.C. also canceled

According to an FAA advisory, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport was closed to due to an “emergency” around 10 p.m. Wednesday.

The advisory came after news that a small plane crashed into the Potomac River near the airport outside of Washington, DC, according to D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services.
